You & I are more alike than I think you realize. In case you wanted to double check, I am a coffee by morning, wine by evening kind of gal. I thrive in chaos (some moments better than others), love easy to read simple forgiving books & want to make the best lifestyle choices for myself and my family. BUT I am very realistic. The days are hectic, I am not a perfect parent with plenty of room to grow. I love a good deal, but will splurge on something special. My husband would say I am a recycling extremist, but also thoroughly enjoys my scratch cooked meals (fear not, take out is still on the menu). Over the past few years, I slowly built a healthier more natural world for myself and family & would love to share some of my life hacks with you!
Making others happy is my ultimate goal. We each have one life to live & strive to look and feel our best, am I right? Why not learn a few simple steps to not only help preserve our world but also integrate minimal changes into our everyday that make us FEEL better? My style of cooking is a lot more of "what do I have handy in the fridge," which works for a stay at home mom with tiny humans.
Starting this lifestyle led me to my essential oils journey. I began cleaning with vinegar & oils when my son discovered the "I put everything in my mouth" stage & continued to explore cleaning alternatives to accommodate different surfaces in my home. It was through this I was introduced to Thieves. The scent is unlike any other & left my space feeling not only clean, but warm and welcoming.
Becoming a parent was one of those eye-opening ah-ha moments for me (like many others). My new identity was all consuming, and with an active growing family, realized my candle addiction was not only unhealthy, but also posed major risks to newly forgetful self (does the memory EVER come back?) and my toddlers. Warming wax melts, while a safer option than candles, was a temporary solution that left artificial perfumey scents linger. Diffusing oils proved to be the clear choice not only for the cleanliess but the scents, completely custom to my mood each day, left my space with a subtle natural aroma. Not to mention, the auto-timers of diffusers left me feeling at ease with tiny humans running around.
But my curiosity was further piqued by the relief from stress & tension pains I frequently fell victim to with a busy life style. To start, I am a registered nurse. Evidenced-based science is my thing but thriving (or attempting to) on constant sleep deprivation & caffeine, something had to give. I distinctly remember a two day stretch I had a cluster of tensions that left me to perform my "mommin" sub par. A friend mentioned trying essential oils and while I was skeptical, grasping at straws, I was desperate. I created a roller ball, set up the diffuser and kid you not, could feel the tension melting away. I couldn't believe it myself, but became a true believer. SO if you're sitting there rolling your eyes, or subconsciously saying there is no way, I dare you to try it out for yourself!
